For the determination of particle size distributions of nano-particulate aerosols ("particulate matter"), mobility weighted fractionation with subsequent condensation nucleus counting in the form of an SMPS (scanning mobility particle sizer) is used.

The system is predestined for the determination of particle diameters in the range of approx. 10 to 700 nm and total concentrations of up to 105 particles / cm³.

All non-explosive, gaseous atmospheres can be analyzed at standard or slight overpressure. The results of the measurement are available after approx. 3 minutes, thus transient processes of medium velocity can also be displayed.
