Development and Characterization of Sliding Bearing Layers by Laser Wire Cladding on Titanium Components

The main objective of the SpaceBear project is the development and optimization of sliding bearing bronze coatings on lightweight titanium components using laser cladding with powder and wire, as well as the introduction of this technology into the aerospace industry. One goal of SpaceBear is to optimize the laser coating process for the combination of titanium and bronze in terms of quality, efficiency, and productivity.

The project also takes into account the post-processing steps and the investigation of the mechanical and tribological properties of the coated sliding bearing layer systems, so that upon successful completion of the project, the results can be directly applied to the industrial production of lightweight components.
