Lunch-to-lunch Workshop (Dresden) / March 16, 2027 - March 17, 2027
Smart Monitoring, AI and Digital Technologies for Industrial Laser Processing
Laser processes are fast, precise and highly dynamic. To make them more robust, efficient and reliable, it is essential to understand what is happening during the process – and increasingly, to predict and control it. This workshop brings together researchers, technology developers and industrial users to explore how sensor technology, data analytics, artificial intelligence and digitalization can unlock new potential in laser processing.
What Does the Workshop Involve?
The workshop provides insights into current developments, practical solutions and industrial applications for the digitalization and intelligent control of laser processes. Experts from industry and science will present approaches and application examples covering topics such as:
- Real-time process monitoring and sensing
- AI and machine learning for laser processes
- Predictive quality assurance and defect detection
- Adaptive and closed-loop process control
- Digital process chains and automation
- Industrial applications and implementation strategies
A central focus is the practical integration of these technologies into industrial laser processes. How can process data be transformed into actionable information? How can AI help detect deviations, predict process outcomes and optimize process parameters? And how can intelligent monitoring and control be integrated into existing production environments?
From Research to Industrial Application
The workshop connects technological advances with industrial needs. Alongside presentations on new technological approaches and research insights, it provides a platform for discussing industrial challenges and identifying new application opportunities.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own questions and use cases and engage directly with experts from Fraunhofer IWS, industry and research. The program also includes networking opportunities and a lab tour offering practical insights into intelligent laser processing.
