The cooperative project `MikroGen` is integrated in the BMBF program `Photonics Research` and a project within the framework MABRILAS. The project work is supervised by VDI-TZ Düsseldorf as project manager for optical technologies.

It focuses on highly precise, generative build up welding, using brilliant laser beam sources. The project`´s aim is the qualification of micro laser build up welding in industrials applications. To manufacture metal structures with lateral resolutions of < 100 µm, we have to develop innovative system technological solutions. On the other hand, however, it is necessary to investigate the metallurgical processes of the weld track formation, which are different in the case of macro build up welding processes.

The results become relevant for innovative tool concepts in micro moulding and present new material solutions for the generative manufacturing of micro electrodes for spark erosion processes. Furthermore the results will help to find repair solutions for injection mould units.
