Principle of remote laser cutting "on the fly" with two oscillating scanning heads

The remote laser beam cutting technology applies a well focused laser beam, which, by the help of quickly moving mirrors, is positioned along the cutting contour of the component’s surface. The laser spot speed is about several meters a second. Due to low interaction times between beam and component the material is partially evaporated and thus continuously ablated.

The decisive advantage of this procedure is the outstanding high processing speed, which, due to inertia, cannot be achieved by highly dynamic cutting systems with linear drives.

Complex contours are no problem for the Remote laser cutting technology. In general the laser cut edges are characterized by their excellent edge quality. The processable range of material is very diversified and comprises cardboards, industrial textiles and even carbon fiber reinforced polymers. Due to the higher cutting speed, the heat-affected zone is lower, as it is in the case of conventional laser cutting procedures. Compared to pinching processes, the benefits of laser cutting processes are a higher flexibility and a cost-saving effect in tool making. In some applications there is no alternative procedure to the Remote technology.
