In an economically oriented strategic alliance (WISA) within the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, the Fraunhofer IWS, together with the Fraunhofer institutes IKTS, LBF and IWU, developed a new approach to extend the performance limits of thermally sprayed coatings and thus allow the production of novel coatings for applications in components subjected to high stress.
In the project “LoadCoat” the entire technology chain is considered and its influence on the application properties is examined. Regarding IWS, it consisted in the development, production and microstructural characterization of thermally sprayed coatings.
