Electric drives are the future’s drive. They work more efficiently than internal combustion engines; they are quiet and emission-free. All over the world, nearly any vehicle manufacturer puts high effort into electrical drives for busses, cars, scooters and bicycles. Hugh investments are done in research and development disciplines to acquire profound competencies in the field of battery production.
Innovative ideas for manufacturing processes of lithium-ion-batteries have to be quickly transferred into industrial applications. To establish competitive automated lithium-ion batteries (basing on large-size lithium-ion cells), suitable production technologies and procedures together with the corresponding system engineering have to be developed. That means that we have to face an outstanding technological challenge.
From May 2010 to June 2011, 15 scientists and 6 technicians, coming from 3 different scientific organizations, developed innovative processes and engineering systems for the manufacturing of large-size lithium-ion cells.
The present brochure summarizes the results in order to pass the acquired knowledge and to make it available to the public.
