Equipment

  • heating source: 4 kW high power laser DY044 (wavelength 1.06 µm)
  • temperature measurement: with fast pyrometer or thermographic camera
  • sample holder: selectable with water or cryogenic cooling
  • test chamber with protective gas environment
  • achievable heating speeds of > 1000 K/s (on sample surface)

Applications

  • performing onetime thermal shock test to determine material data (thermal shock parameters, thermal shock resistance)
  • performing cyclic heating tests (thermal cycling) to determine damage limits
  • performing lifetime studies under defined cyclic thermal loads
  • investigating bulk materials or surface coatings
  • tests on material samples or entire parts
